Restaurants
There are many restaurants on the main Calangute-Baga road which is a 5 minute walk from your apartment. Here is a short list of the restaurants closeby:- Bongo shack, run by the brother of Merlin (from the white gate take a right turn, walk through Little India Beach Cottages towards the sea, find the shack right after the pool in the monsoon time and on the beach, on the right side, the rest of the year)
- Relish restaurant with great food and a relaxed atmosphere (towards the main road)

Hot water
There is nothing better then a hot shower after a day at the beach.For hot water please use the left tap.It may take a few minutes before the water turns warm.

Kitchen
We have provided basic kitchen equipment to prepare meals. If you have the gas cooker in your apartment, there is a small white switch on the gas cylinder that has to be turned on before cooking and turned off after cooking.Kindly ensure all dishes and vessels are clean when leaving the apartment.Please note that the Chikoo apartment does not have a kitchen.

Please note that our apartment is self-serviced, and cleaning services are only provided for long-term guests.Cleaning tools:
We have provided a broom and dustpan on the balcony of the apartment for your convenience if you'd like to do a quick sweep.Garbage:
If your garbage is full and needs to be disposed of, please leave the closed garbage bags in the green container located on the left side of the big white entrance gate. Thank you for your cooperation.Additionally, you will find new garbage bags inside the apartment to use for your dustbin.

Power back-up
Power cuts do happen here in Calangute. Some periods of the year more often, like in the summer months of April/May and in the monsoon time.We have full power back-up for the apartment. After a power cut it will take a few seconds for the generator to switch on.

Mosquitos
All windows have mosquito nets and thus can be opened at all times from the outside. Make sure you close your doors after 17pm in the afternoon to prevent mosquitos making your home their home.To be able to sit outside on the balcony we suggest to use incense sticks (green packet) provided in the apartment. These are specifically to deter mosquitos.

Please do not smoke inside the apartment. Smoking is allowed on your balconies and in the garden. Ashtrays are provided.

You can park your scooter on the property, specifically on the side of the building. We have designated private parking for scooters.Car:
If you're arriving by car, here's where you can park:
- Follow the road past the apartment building towards the beach.
- As the road turns right, you'll come to a small parking area (Little India) situated on a small hill, approximately 50 meters away from the home.

Taxis are readily available a short walk from here. Taxi drivers are standing in front of Villa Goesa/Fahrenheit hotel, 1 minute walk from here. Also you can find taxi drivers at the main road, opposite Bagadeck.You can also contact (call/whatsapp) these English speaking taxi drivers who are familiar with our Airbnb and our guests use regularly:

Pharmacy
The nearest pharmacy is a 10 to 15 minute walk from your apartment. Walk towards the main road at Bagadeck, take a right and walk straight. After 10 minutes you will find Roma pharmacy on your right hand side.
A bigger pharmacy you can find in the centre of Calangute. Find Naik medical store here:
And for a more modern pharmacy which is open 24/7 visit Wellness Forever, also in the centre of Calangute.

Please make sure the windows are closed while using the AC to cool your place as fast as possible (windows close from the outside).Kindly switch off the ac when not at home.

Laundry Services
For laundry services you can contact Austin at the reception of Little India Beach Cottages (out of the gate to the right 30 metres). He can arrange laundry at a local company for a fair price.
White Cloud Laundry services is a 10 minute drive towards Candolim. This laundry is comparatively very expensive - around Rs. 85 to clean a shirt.

Groceries
Daily groceriesFor drinking water and basic groceries like milk, eggs and basic veggies, you can visit our friend Nisha's small street stall. It is a 3-4 minutes walk towards the main road, on the right side.
Vegetables and fruits shopWalk towards the main road, turn right towards the small Old Piety church. After the church take the first left and follow that road for about 5 minutes, the road eventually turns sharp to the right and you will find the shop there.
Norm Supermarket (local)The closest supermarket (15 minutes walk) is near Titos Lane. On the main road, take a left turn and walk towards Titos Lane/Baga, just before Titos Lane you will find the supermarket on the left side.
Tinto Local Market for fish, veggies and meatOur local Goan market is a 5 minute scooter ride from the apartment where you can get fresh fish from local vendors and a range of shops selling vegetables, fruits, meat, locally made pickles and Goan sweets. (5 minute bike ride or 30 minute walk)
Other Supermarkets (more variety, modern and air-conditioned)These are a 8-15 minute scooter ride towards Candolim.

How to get here
In the airports in Goa, head to the ‘prepaid airport taxi counter’ (after baggage collection) and book a ride to Calangute - next to Little India Beach cottages. For estimate of costs see Transport costs.When you arrive in Calangute, follow these directions:
1. Come to De Baga Deck restaurant on Calangute - Baga road.
2. Take the road exactly next to De Baga Deck heading towards the beach.
3. Drive on this road (350 m.) until you come to Fahrenheit hotel.
4. In FRONT of Fahrenheit hotel take the right onto a small curved road.
5. Follow the small road for 50 metres.
6. You'll find our large two-storey white house with a double white gate on your right-hand side, the second house on the right (Sweet Earth Goa).For parking keep following this road for another 50 metres until you reach an uphill parking area. Here is the exact location of the parking: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GcbzLeidV9yCNRtp9Self-check-in instructions with detailed pictures will be sent to you via Airbnb two days before your arrival.

You can reach the beach and shared pool via private family property. A safe and lighted way to visit the beach day and night.To access the pathway to the beach go right at the white gate and after 30 meters you will find this entrance to our family property which leads to the shared pool, beach and Bongo shack. If anybody enquires, just inform them you are guests of Merlin.

Drinking water
We have provided waterfilters in all apartments. In Papaya, Mango and Strawberry apartments you will find the water filter in the kitchen. On the sink is a small tap with blue base you can use that for drinking water.In Chikoo you will find the water filter in the corridor on the cabinet.In Coconut the water filter is next to the washbasin in the kitchen. Make sure it is switched on and press the button on the front, it may take a minute or so before water comes. To stop the water press the button again.

There are several hospitals in the area. We do not have much experience with them, so can not really give recommendations.
Small local hospital about ten minutes by car from the apartment.
Regional hospital with numerous specialties in Mapusa. Approximate 25 minutes by car.

Doctors
There are many doctors in the area. If this is your first time visit to a doctor in India be aware that the standards are very different from Western culture. No shiny white office or much privacy (sometimes). This is normal for India but might need some time to get used to if you are not familiar with it.The list below consists of doctors we or our guests visited.
This doctor is in walking distance from our home. She is an allopathic doctor.
For homeopathy we can recommend Dr. Thomas.
This is a good pediatrician according to my brother. It is a 30- minute drive from here.
A small and simple place to get your bloodwork done. Professional and fast.
